Good Afternoon, Mt. Carmel family! I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Friday and are looking forward with me to the weekend! As I mentioned yesterday, I’m excited for Sunday already!
I wanted to let you know that we are celebrating the Lord’s Supper this Sunday! I am really happy about this! We ordered some pre-packaged elements—where the cracker and juice come together. This will provide a way to get the elements to everyone without the need for passing the plates of bread and juice. Also, if you are viewing the services online, may I encourage you (and your family) to be prepared to take the elements at home together with us?
I would highly encourage you as well to read Leviticus 16 today or tomorrow. I will be referencing that chapter often as we look at the Jewish Day of Atonement (also known as Yom Kippur) as well as viewing the parallel to Jesus’ sacrifice laid out in Hebrews 9 and 10.
I am also reminding you that beyond our morning worship services at 9 & 11, this is our week for Life Groups. Here’s the rundown: Room 2: Nurseries (under 2), Cafeteria: Kids’ Sunday school (2-5 years), Cafeteria: Kids’ Sunday school (K-5th grade), Grove House: Teen Sunday school (6-12th grade), Room 1: Life Group hosted by Jim Grandstaff, Room 19: Life Group hosted by Gordon DeMeritt.
Also, on Sunday evening, we have two additional Life Groups: hosted by Andy Caviness and John Thomas. More information here.
And Pastor Micah will be having high school youth group on Sunday evening at 6 p.m. They meet in the gym and end up at the Grove House.
Finally, I am attaching the notes from a business meeting on Sunday, September 2, in case you did not see them yesterday. We will have these printed out and available on Sunday—as well as two recommendations from the deacons. We are planning to have a short business meeting after both of our Sunday morning worship services on Sunday, October 11 to vote on the two deacon recommendations.
Have a wonderful evening, church family! I sure do miss you! I read an article this week where a pastor reminded us all of the power of the Gospel—and in the power of being together with other believers! I realize that some of you have not yet returned to in-person services, and I’m not trying to pressure you at all. I simply want to let you know we are doing all we can to provide a safe and sanitized environment for you to join with your Christian brothers and sisters in praise and worship to our great God!
If you have any specific questions, please feel free to e-mail me back! I’d happily answer any of your questions! God bless!
For His glory,
Pastor Brian
